Friends

What defines home? Is it where you hang your hat? Is it where your friends and family are? Is it where you create a living? I grew up in many places- Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, Oklahoma, and Colorado. DH and I tested out Utah, and New York before heading back to Denver and then transferring to NH. Up until this point Colorado is where I have lived the majority of my life. Very soon New Hampshire will surpass that. We have lived in New Hampshire for ten years now. We have our family here and with Art's parents where they are at we are glad we are nearby. Art has many old friends from his childhood that he keeps in touch with, too. It was great fun to get off the plane in Boston last Saturday and head up to Cambridge to catch the Red Sox game with Eddie. (YAY Sox!) We have settled into our little town and through volunteering and general involvement we have made many acquaintances and a few friends here. We have business associates as well, and we are definitely in one of the best places for the industry we are promoting. It feels like home. I feel like I fit in to the faster pace, and more career-centered lifestyle. I used to go back to Colorado and wonder why we left. We don't get to see enough of my brother and his family and feel bad about that since we are the only Aunt and Uncle their kids have. We have some of our best friends there. The people we met in college are a very tight group. They still hang out to watch the Bronco game, or have girls night, or celebrate a holiday or a Saturday... The group has gathered new members over the years (Mateo, of course, and it was nice to finally meet Neil! and I look forward to some day meeting Concetta's new beau), and a few of us have moved away, but we have always felt like we are part of the group. When I was in CO last week everyone got together to go out to dinner on Friday (can't believe that was a week ago!) to hang out with me even though they were having a big Halloween party the next night. Sorry I missed that one! I need to work on my planning ;) The dance club was very entertaining. Even with the creepy stalker guys... A big Thank You to all of my friends for coming out and an even bigger Thank You to Wendi who set everything up, and let me stay at her house. Kudos to Marcelo who woke up at the crack of dawn on Saturday with me to drag me off to the airport. I feel that NH is more of a home considering our livelihood, and it is where most of our family is, but I thinkour greatest friends will always give us a home in Colorado.

I am also sorry we missed you! It looks like it was a great time, and opportunity to see everyone! Friday's are really hard for us, especially with a 2hour drive! But maybe we can work something out next time around (or maybe you can try and make a 1-2 day trip south to see us folks in southern Colorado). Take Care!
